Pasban-e-Hurriyat holds Right to Self-Determination rally in Jhelum Valley
Muzaffarabad: As part of the ongoing Right to Self-Determination campaign initiated by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, a large public rally was held at Hattian Bala in the Jhelum Valley, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, participants carried banners, placards, and images of Kashmiri leaders imprisoned in Indian jails. The banners and placards called for a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, as per the United Nations resolutions. The march took place along the Srinagar Highway.
The rally was led by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, accompanied by Vice-Chairman Usman Ali Hashim, PPP leader Shaukat Javed Mir, PTI leader Syed Zeeshan Haider, trader leader Syed Faisal Gilani, Jammu and Kashmir United Movement leader Qari Tahir Mohammadi, Syed Israr Hamdani, Advocate Abdul Jabbar, Raja Parvez Advocate, Syed Jowad Hamdani, Mehnaz Qureshi, Chaudhary Muhammad Ismail, Muhammad Ismail Jaghwal, Muhammad Shafi Bhatti, Chaudhary Saifuddin, Muhammad Aslam Mir, and others.
Addressing the rally, the speakers demanded the implementation of the 5th January 1949 UN Security Council resolution on Kashmir and other related resolutions. They highlighted that India has been using military force, oppressive laws, arbitrary arrests, fake encounters, and other tactics to intimidate Kashmiris and complicate the Kashmir issue. Meanwhile, they commended Pakistan for fully supporting the Kashmiri people’s demand for their right to self-determination and for working towards a fair and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute.
The speakers called on the international community to fulfill its promise of a plebiscite for the Kashmiri people and to annul India’s illegal actions taken on August 5, 2019. They stressed the urgent need for global efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue to ensure lasting peace in South Asia. The speakers also appealed to international human rights organizations to take action for the release of Kashmiri political prisoners held in Indian jails.
It is pertinent to mention that Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir is an organization representing the refugees from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in AJK.
