Modi regime attaches properties of three more Kashmiris in IIOJK

Jammu: In a continuing pattern of aggressive policies aimed at dispossessing Kashmiris of their land and properties, the BJP-led Indian government has attached the properties of three more Kashmiris in the Rajouri and Bandipora districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the properties attached include six kanals and 18 marlas of land located at Bhattian village in Tehsil Thanamandi. The land is estimated to be worth crores of rupees. The individuals whose properties have been attached are identified as Ishtiaq Ahmed and Zahid Ali Khan both residents of Thanamandi.

Indian police also attached 2 Kanals and 7.5 Marlas of land in Sumbal area of Bandipora district under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The property belongs to Mushtaq Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Mohiuddin Mir, resident of Hilalabad Nesbal Sumbal.

Indian police claim that these individuals have affiliations with mujahid organizations. However, such accusations have often been used as a pretext for targeting and harassing Kashmiris.

It is worth mentioning here that since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, the Modi regime has intensified its campaign of land confiscations in IIOJK. The policy is being used as a tool to silence dissent, intimidate Kashmiris, and dispossess them of their land and assets.
