Indian constitution reduced to mere hollow document, tool of oppression: AJKSCBA
Muzaffarabad: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association (AJKSCBA) has issued a strong statement denouncing India’s Constitution as a lifeless document, devoid of its original essence and principles.
According to Kashmir Media Service, marking January 26, India’s Republic Day, as a Black Day, the Bar Association highlighted the systemic erosion of constitutional values under successive Indian regimes, particularly under the current Modi-led government.
The AJKSCBA, in its press release, noted that the Indian Constitution, drafted under the vision of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar as a guarantor of equality, justice, and fundamental human rights, has been reduced to a mere tool of oppression. “Scheduled Castes and other marginalized communities, who were promised protection and progress, are now facing systematic discrimination and repression,” the statement said.
The association underscored that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) serves as the starkest example of this constitutional collapse. Despite deploying massive military forces, offering economic packages, and employing various coercive tactics, India has failed to suppress the unyielding spirit of freedom among the Kashmiri people. The press release emphasized, “It is evident to the world that the people of Kashmir will never accept Indian occupation, no matter the cost.”
For Kashmiris globally, January 26 is a day of mourning and protest against India’s denial of their United Nations-recognized right to self-determination. The AJKSCBA reiterated its solidarity with the legal fraternity of IIOJK and other pro-freedom organizations, affirming unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s peaceful struggle for freedom.
The association condemned India’s ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK, calling for global intervention to ensure justice for the oppressed Kashmiris. It appealed to the international community to amplify the voice of the Kashmiri people and press India to fulfill its obligations under UN resolutions.
The AJKSCBA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Kashmir freedom movement, pledging to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri legal community, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, and international forums advocating for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
