Islamabad: The demolition and confiscation of the Kashmiris’ properties continue unabated across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian authorities demolished three shops in Kulgam and attached land in Bandipora under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Demolishing and seizing Kashmiris’ properties, on one pretext or another, by the Indian authorities have become a new normal in the occupied territory.
Property demolitions and confiscations in IIOJK are increasingly seen as tools of economic coercion and intimidation and are widely viewed as collective aimed at silencing the voices of Kashmiris
India is expanding its settler colonial agenda in the territory through land grabs and property confiscations and the campaign of demolitions and attachments by the Modi’s regime aims to break Kashmiris’ resolve for freedom.
New Delhi is hell bent on depriving Kashmiris of their land, livelihoods and economic security and property demolitions and illegal confiscations reflect a broader pattern of systematic settler colonialism campaign in IIOJK but Indian repression will not deter the Kashmiris from pursuing the freedom cause.
The international community must act to halt the Modi regime’s settler colonial project in the occupied territory.
