Mirwaiz Umar Farooq pays tribute to Hazrat Shah-e-Hamadan on 661st Urs

Says Kashmiris remain deeply indebted to great Sufi saint for guiding them towards Islam

Srinagar: On the 661st death anniversary (Urs) of Hazrat Amir-e-Kabir Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA), senior APHC leader and chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that Kashmiri people remain eternally grateful to the great spiritual benefactor for transforming their lives with the light of Islamic faith.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Urs of the revered 14th-century Persian Sufi scholar Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (widely known as Shah-e-Hamadan) is celebrated annually on the 6th of Zil-Hijjah with religious fervour across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Devotees mark the occasion with special prayers, recitations of the Holy Quran, and spiritual gatherings, particularly at the historic Khanqah-e-Moula shrine in Srinagar.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that the great Sufi saint not only guided Kashmir towards Islam but also enriched the region’s cultural and economic life through arts, crafts and traditions of dignified livelihood associated with his mission and companions.

“His spiritual, cultural and civilisational legacy continues to guide Kashmir,” the Mirwaiz said, adding that the people of the Kashmir Valley remain deeply indebted to Shah-e-Hamadan.

The Mirwaiz prayed for the elevation of the great saint’s spiritual rank and urged people to uphold his noble teachings in their daily lives.
