Land being snatched away & given to outsiders in IIOJK: Congress leader
Says BJP using religious politics to divert attention from its failures
Jammu: Indian National Congress leader Sachin Pilot has said that New Delhi-installed administration in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is snatching land from the territory’s people and giving to outsiders.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Sachin Pilot was addressing a gathering in Kathua while campaigning for his party’s candidate, Choudhary Lal Singh, in the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency. The Udhampur Lok Sabha seat is set to go to polls on April 19.
Pilot criticized the encroachment of lands in IIOJK under the New Delhi-installed Lieutenant Governor’s rule.
“Under the rule of the lieutenant governor, outsiders are encroaching lands. Lands that are being cultivated are being snatched from the people and given to outsiders,” he said.
The Congress leader also said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government was using religious politics to divert attention from its failures in the realm of development.
Denouncing the BJP leaders for using religion for political gains, he said, “They centre their politics around issues like mandir-masjid, Hindu-Muslim, Hindustan and Pakistan. However, they show little interest in issues concerning schools, colleges, hospitals, economy, employment, women, youth, farmers, and inflation.”
Pilot also attacked the Election Commission of India for remaining silent when the accounts of the main opposition party were frozen and elected chief ministers were sent to jail. “The Election Commission is watching as a mute spectator. They sealed the accounts of the Congress, put elected chief ministers in jail, and tried to muzzle the opposition,” Pilot said.
Pilot said that there is a growing wave of change across India, questioning the BJP government’s ten-year rule and demanded accountability.
