Waqf Amendment Bill violates religious rights of Muslims: Mufti Nasir ul Islam

Srinagar: Nasir ul Islam, Mufti Azam and Chairman of the Muslim Personal Law Board of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has strongly opposed the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill, stating that it would not be accepted by the people of IIOJK as it violates their religious rights.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Nasir ul Islam stated that the Waqf Amendment Bill is an attack on our autonomy and a direct violation of Articles 25, 26, and 30 of the Constitution.

He further stated that the government has no authority to interfere in Waqf properties. He described the decision as discriminatory and warned that it would have an adverse impact on minority rights. He emphasized that provisions allowing non-Muslim members in Waqf Councils and State Waqf Boards undermine their rights.

Mufti Azam Nasir ul Islam reaffirmed that the people of IIOJK would strongly oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill.
